Currently one membership class is available; Exploring Member (non-refundable). Beyond Backpacking LLC may waive the eligibility requirements for any class of membership; establish and change the eligibility requirements, privileges, and obligations of any class of membership; discontinue offering any class or category of membership, and create additional classes of membership with such eligibility requirements, privileges, and obligations as it deems appropriate, in its sole discretion. Regardless of Membership class, each Membership shall permit an individual to use the Club’s Facilities and participate in Club classes, events, and wilderness trips, subject to the terms of this Membership Plan, Rules, and Regulations. The individual permitted to use the Membership shall be designated in writing on the Membership application.
No Member shall have any ownership or proprietary interest, beneficial interest, or any other vested interest whatsoever in the Club, or any of the Club’s Facilities. Additionally no Member shall bear any responsibility for any financial obligation of the Club. Membership constitutes only a license to use
some or all of the Club’s Facilities as set forth in this Membership Plan, Rules, and Regulations, as both may be amended from time to time. Membership is offered as an opportunity to obtain the recreational and social benefits of the Club only, and should not be viewed as an investment purchased with any view toward, or expectation of, profit.
Exploring Members are subject to monthly dues. Exploring Members may participate in general meetings and committees, as well as Club sponsored events, classes, and wilderness trips. Exploring Members can actively contribute to group discussions and are encouraged to join in all discussions, but may not participate in decision rounds. Exploring Members shall receive priority use of rental equipment through Beyond Backpacking LLC’s Backcountry Rental Services division at discounted rates. Admission to Club sponsored events may be waived or discounted as determined by Beyond Backpacking LLC on an event by event basis. Membership in the Beyond Backpacking Adventure Club represents a license to use designated Club Facilities, such as meeting rooms, in common with such other persons as Beyond Backpacking LLC may authorize from time to time. Members in the Club do not acquire any ownership, proprietary, or beneficial interest in, or right to control the business entity Beyond Backpacking LLC, including both the Adventure Club and Backcountry Rental Services divisions, and any of its facilities and equipment.
Senior Members are granted all of the same privileges as Exploring Members. To become a Senior Member an individual must possess a current Wilderness First Responder certification (or equivalent); completion of a Leave No Trace Master Educator’s course and Summit County, CO Food Handler course are also required. Only Senior Members may be wilderness trip leaders. Senior Membership status is up for regular review by Managing Members. Senior status may be revoked by Managing Members if trainings and certifications are not kept up to date. Senior Members who are not current on their coursework and certifications may remain in the Club as Exploring Members.
A Senior Member may be granted Honorary Member status by Beyond Backpacking LLC. Honorary Members may be exempt from initiation fees and club dues in exchange for leading wilderness trips. Honorary Membership status is determined at the sole discretion of Beyond Backpacking LLC.
Managing Members may be part of the business entity (Beyond Backpacking LLC) that is developing both the Beyond Backpacking Adventure Club & Backcountry Rental Services divisions. They are responsible for the success of the development, including initial organization, governance of the group itself, property acquisition, event planning input and final decisions, marketing outreach activities, member involvement and assessing and establishing the staffing needs of the Club. They shape our newly forming community of outdoor enthusiasts through their contribution of time, skill, and money, making the development process possible.
Contemporaneously with the adoption of this Membership Plan, Beyond Backpacking LLC has adopted the Rules and Regulations. The Beyond Backpacking LLC may modify, change, add to, or eliminate the Rules and Regulations or any portion thereof at any time, in its sole discretion. Each Member shall be entitled to use all the Club’s Facilities, services, and special events, in accordance with the terms of this Membership Plan and the Rules and Regulations. There may be attendance limits on classes, events, and trips to maximize Member safety and minimize environmental impact. The Club’s Facilities, services and special events may include:
Beyond Backpacking LLC, in its sole discretion, arrange for the use of the Club’s Facilities or services for promotional or special events, which may be attended by Members on a gratis or for charge basis, as determined on a case by case basis by Beyond Backpacking LLC. Such events shall not entitle Members to any reduction or change in annual dues. If classes, events, and trips are open to Non-Members, Members will be granted a reduced admission rate or may have the admission waived entirely at the discretion of Beyond Backpacking LLC. From time to time Beyond Backpacking LLC may establish charges for food, beverages, or other items, including but not limited to service charges and guest fees, which shall be separate and distinct from dues. Beyond Backpacking LLC may, in its sole discretion, change the amount charged for various items and services without advance notice to the Members.
Each person who desires a Membership must complete and return a Membership Application, together with the required Initiation Fee, and Liability Release to a Managing Member at the address noted on the application. Applications will be approved or denied by Managing Members and Beyond Backpacking LLC. The Beyond Backpacking LLC shall have sole and exclusive authority to determine the qualifications for Membership and may modify such qualifications from time to time in their sole discretion. In the event an application is denied, the applicant shall be refunded the full amount of the Initiation Fee, which is otherwise non-refundable. Adventure Club Membership is individual and non-transferable. The Beyond Backpacking LLC reserves the right to amend classes of Membership and may create new Membership classes as deemed appropriate, such as Corporate Membership which may be shared among members of a specified corporation. Membership can be terminated in a number of ways. A Member may opt to terminate their membership at the completion of their initial subscription term. A Managing Member may terminate another’s Membership for financial account delinquency. Any Member who, in the opinion of the Managing Members, conducts himself or herself or whose family members or guests conduct themselves, in a manner that is unacceptable to the other Members while using the Club’s Facilities or attending an Adventure Club class, event, or trip, may have his or her Membership terminated. Beyond Backpacking LLC has a zero tolerance policy for harassment, use of controlled substances, violence, and any other behaviors that may endanger the acting individual and/or other Club Members. Upon termination for unacceptable behavior, the former Member shall not be entitled to further use of the Club’s Facilities or attendance at Club classes, events, or trips, and shall not be eligible for reinstatement unless reinstatement is approved by the Managing Members.
Management, operation, and staffing of the Club’s Facilities, classes, events, and trips shall be the responsibility of Beyond Backpacking LLC. Beyond Backpacking LLC may hire employees and/or designate Managing Members who will perform such functions as Beyond Backpacking LLC shall delegate in order to ensure smooth operation of both the Adventure Club and Backcountry Rental Services Divisions.
